Every company or individual leaves a carbon footprint, as a result of the GHG emissions generated by their daily activities.
Our climate projects take action to protect our forests and contribute to the local development, by implementing environmentally friendly productive initiatives within local communities.
Maderacre implements two climate projects under the Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation (REDD+) framework, which together protect the integrity of more than 300,000 hectares of tropical rainforest and support rural development in the Tahuamanu province, in the Madre de Dios department of the Peruvian Amazon Rainforest.
Our actions preserve forests and foster sustainable development for rural communities in the Peruvian Amazon, as well as contributing to global climate change mitigation.
Our projects are validated and verified by international certification bodies under the VERRA standards: Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) and Climate, Community, and Biodiversity (CCB), under the Gold category for biodiversity.

“Maderera Río Acre (MADERACRE) is the country's leading FSC-certified forestry company, holding the oldest forest management (NC-FM/COC-002176) and chain of custody (NC-COC-002189) certificates since 2007. These certificates have been audited annually and re-evaluated every five years. Additionally, in 2019, MADERACRE expanded the scope of its FSC certification to include the Ecosystem Services module, including Biodiversity Conservation and Carbon Sequestration and Storage. These certifications have verified MADERACRE's ongoing biodiversity monitoring and follow-up in its harvested forests. We are also familiar with MADERACRE's REDD+ initiative and have had the opportunity to witness its contribution to reducing deforestation in the province of Tahuamanu, promoting forest conservation and the sustainable development of the surrounding communities.”
